Show your swimsuit how much you care. To get the most life and quality out of your suits, it’s important to do all you can to preserve the fabric, color and shape, especially if you frequently practice water aerobics.
Here are some helpful tips to properly care for your swimwear:
1. Keep It Clean
Hand wash your swimsuit with mild soap after every use. Suntan lotions, salt, chlorine, prolonged sunlight and body perspiration may cause discoloration and fabric breakdown.
2. Roll It Up
Do not wring the swimsuit to remove excess water. To preserve its shape, you should instead lay it on a towel, roll the towel up and gently squeeze.
3. Dry Flat
Let your swimsuit rest (the fabric is tired, too!) for 24-36 hours after uses. Hanging it to dry will stretch out the fibers.
4. Avoid Washers & Dryers
Do not use a clothes dryer; the agitation and the excessive heat can cause damage to your swimsuit.
5. Sunbathe Before You Swim
Swimming before sunbathing can cause your swimsuit to wear out faster due to the effects of heat and other elements.
6. Alternate Your Swimsuits
The more chlorine resistant swimsuits you have, the less wear on one particular suit. If you have a favorite silhouette, you may want to purchase more than one in case the style is discontinued.
7. Watch Where You Sit
Avoid sunning or sitting on concrete ledges of a pool. Abrasive surfaces may cause pulls or runs in the fabric of your suit.
Hitting the pool day after day? A chlorine resistant swimsuit is your best bet. Enjoy the waters without having to worry about damaging the shape, color and quality of your swimsuit.
