How Water Aerobics Improves Common Health Problems

Similar to common cardiovascular exercises such as running and jogging, water aerobics is another form of exercise that is increasing in popularity. It is becoming the chosen alternative to the strenuous, heavy sweat-producing activities we do on land. These aquatic exercises are beneficial for increasing stamina, muscle tone, increasing strength, endurance, and flexibility.

How can water aerobics help you? The water's natural buoyancy will support your body and help relieve the stress on your tendons, joints, and ligaments. It gives you that gentle but efficient support that enables you to move effortlessly. Just 45 minutes or up to an hour of stretching and dancing with your arms, legs, and core muscles in chest-deep water, will definitely burn lots of calories.

For health problems such as arthritis, high blood pressure and sugar levels, excessive weight gain, or for those undergoing rehabilitation after surgery, water aerobics is the perfect form of exercise.

But leave that itsy bitsy polka-dot bikini in your closet. You may be headed to the pool but be practical by wearing proper water aerobics swimwear. Wear a swimsuit that will cover you up and make you feel comfortable when moving. You may wear athletic swimwear, perhaps a one-piece chlorine resistant swimwear. Cross back swimwear is also typically worn. Keep in mind that you will be in a chest level pool for almost an hour so comfort is key.

Water aerobics is definitely a fun and effective way of working out and moving towards a healthier you. Dive in.
