What to Wear for Your Water Aerobics Workout

Beginning a water aerobics class can be an exciting new adventure. Not only are you improving your health, but also getting out there and meeting people with similar interests. Before you step foot into the pool, you need to consider what to wear.

Three Essentials
Water aerobics gear consists of three essential items:

Swimwear:
Your swimwear is the most important component of your workout gear. Find a suit that is comfortable, allows for flexibility, and provides ample coverage. There are plenty of styles out there to suit everyone's tastes.

Whether you choose a one or two-piece is entire up to you. Finding crossback swimwear or racerback swimwear will ensure proper fit and movement. You want to freely move about without the worry of exposure. Being in the water can take a toll on your swimsuit fabric. A good investment would be a chlorine-resistant suit. Chlorine proof suits may cost a little more upfront, but they will save you money in the long run.

Swim cap and aqua shoes:
Though they aren't a necessity for your water aerobics class, both are a wise investment. Being in the chlorine can damage your hair. A swim cap will protect it— especially if you have color treated or dry hair.

Aqua shoes provide excellent traction and work just like running shoes on a track. They also prevent injuries to your feet, and protect them when walking on walkways and in locker rooms.
