Sometimes in life, if becomes necessary to find a low-impact workout. There is nothing better than a water aerobics class. All you need is a chlorine resistant swimsuit and you are set. Many times the teacher will provide float belts for deep water activities, but this is not necessary. It is possible to hold on to the side or to stay in the shallow end.

The exercises performed in a water aerobics class are much the same as in regular aerobics. You will do a "grapevine," there will be running in place and plenty of step-and-touch. Adding the resistance of the water really makes it possible to get a great workout without putting too much pressure on the knees and shins. The water makes you buoyant and keeps you cool.

Finding a teacher is easy; just ask at your local YMCA, a neighborhood gym or on a college campus. Water aerobics is one of the best low impact workouts you can have and it is never boring.
